French Bulldog Jamboree – Tentative Schedule of Events

We’re getting SOOOO close! I’m happy to announce a tentative schedule of events, which is still subject to some change. For now, here it is:

Friday May 22cnd (weekend and overnight guests)

Arrive during day
Dinner at your leisure (ribs, chicken, steak are all on the menu, apparently)
Poker tournament, with $500 pot
Hang out time at cabins, camp fire with marshmallows, possible sing along if we get drunk enough (God help us all)

Saturday, May 23rd

11 am: Arrive and check in for those not staying at the resort ($5 per person, or $8 per couple or family for day’s events – included for those staying at the resort)
11:30 am: Obedience clinic and general meet and greet time (obedience clinic is donation based)
12:30 am: Fun match
1:30 pm: BBQ lunch, with raffle to follow. BBQ is included for those staying at the resort – prices otherwise are on the website
2:30 – 3:00 ish pm: costume contest with prizes
4:30: additional obedience clinic time, if needed

End of events for those not staying at the resort, or stay for optional dinner (dinner included for resort guests).

The resort is fully booked for our event and a wedding, but there are area motels for those who decide to stay overnight. Advance reservations suggested. Contact us for a recommended list.

Sunday, May 24th

Breakfast/Brunch at your leisure
Animal Communicator will be doing readings during the day (still subject to the AC’s schedule – we’ll know for sure by the end of this week)
Lunch of your choice – hand out sheet will have suggestions for area
Optional tour to St. Jacob’s, Ontario – Mennonite Village, Mennonite farmer’s and craft market (individual vehicles). Great quilt and gift item shopping.
Dinner for those staying overnight to Monday

Anyone arriving before Friday is welcome to email me directly – we’re having a small get together at my house, five minutes from the resort, if you’re feeling up to it.

ps: Please bring your raffle items with you if you’re attending. Make sure to include a card with your name or the name of the donator, and any other info you’d like read out at the raffle and included on the website.

Pretty Miss Pixie and in other Butters news…

I was privileged to be able to catch up with the beautiful Daisy last night – formerly known as Pixie, she’s litter mate to Jellie, Rumble, Butters and Thor. Daisy lost her sight in her left eye after a horrifically bad reaction to her very first puppy shot. As a result, she only has twenty percent vision in her eye, and it’s also significantly smaller than her good right eye.

In spite of this, Daisy remains pretty as a picture, and is a true Daddy’s little Princess.

The ungrateful little bugger refused to come and see the weird lady who chasing her around with a camera, even after I’d reminded her that I bottle fed her when her lazy butt mommy Penelope gave up on the chores of motherhood. Daisy was unimpressed.

I’d also like to point out that Daisy has made me reconsider my belief that Butters and her sister Jellie are… hmm, we’ll call it  “overly voluptuous”. In comparison to Daisy, they are both svelte little ballerinas. Daisy looks like she’s been fed entirely on bacon and sticks of butter, a possibility I am completely prepared to consider.

I believe I forgot to mention Butters rather spectacular weekend the week before she finished. From the classes, she managed to take Best of Breed, Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group, a Group Second and…

Best Puppy in Show!

We’re so very proud of our little knucklehead. She’s not a genius, but as I always tell her “You’re pretty, so you don’t have to be smart. No one asks Miss America to do quantum physics”.

I think I got that from a talking Barbie Doll, actually.

We will have membership applications for the ECFBC available at the Jamboree, as well as on the website.

ps: since we do not have any idea of how many of each item people want, we will NOT be selling shirts or other gear at the Jamboree. Our Cafe Press Store is the ONLY place to get French Bulldog Jamboree gear!

Michael Vick to become PETA spokesman. Yes, really.

That's CHAMPION Butters, Thank You

We’re happy to announce that yesterday at Seaway Kennel Club our little monkey girl, Butters (aka Bella, to her co owner Paula.. lol!), finished her Canadian Championship, making her Ch Bullmarket Absolut Harvest Moon. Butters is sired by our Elliott, out of Penelope. We repeated the breeding because we were so happy with our girls – fingers crossed, we should have pups in June!

She finished as a junior puppy, in three shows, and was undefeated when handled by Kay Reil. Kay did a fabulous job handling Butters, and best of all, Butters just LOVES her.

Butters took WB and BOS, with RoboBull Fabelhaft Hot Pursuit taking BOB and puppy. Hot Pursuit also took a Gr 3 and BPIG earlier in the weekend.

Oh, and in case you were wondering how a French Bulldog celebrates winning her Championship, have a look at this video. Here’s a hint: it involves puddles, mud and a well abused Gumby toy.
