Bunny Puppies at Nine Days

I was so busy over the last few weeks that I forgot to do a “Happy Birthday” post for Bunny’s puppies. The fat little hamsters turned one week old on Sunday, and continue to increase exponentially in cuteness. At this rate, they will be a virtual black hole of adorableness within the month, sucking in everything in their vicinity and creating a swirling vortex of candy floss scented kawaii none of us will be able to escape.
In one week, here’s what has happened in the Bun Bun Babies’ world:
– we’ve all doubled our birth weights
– we still can’t see or hear, but our senses of smell, taste and touch are all active and strong
– we now have ‘activated sleep’, where we twitch and jerk and sometimes make little yipping sounds. Active sleep increases the puppy’s respiratory strength, among other things.
– we nurse vigorously, and will happily knock our siblings out of the way to get to a really choice nipple
More photos, as always, over on Flickr. Oh, and still no babies from Delilah yet, but the clock is most definitely ticking.
Less than a week to go, thank God. She’s ran out of space to expand downwards, and is now just getting wider. Not evenly, though – one side is decidedly wider than the other.
A dog’s uterus is “U” shaped, with two horns, so chances are that Delilah is carrying more puppies in one horn than she is in the other. This would explain why she’s lopsided. Poor girl. It can’t be comfortable.
I swear, time and time again, that I will strictly limit my posting of puppy photos. After all, like all new mommas I would happily shove stacks of photos of little pink bellied puppies into your face, oblivious to the fact that most people just don’t care.
Puppies at this age, I am willing to admit, share more in common with hamsters than they do with full grown French Bulldogs, but even the most jaded of blog readers is going to have to cut me some slack, and sit back while I share with you the absolute cutest photographs of all time.
Gaze in wonder at the tiny leetle toesies, the peeking pink tongue, and the itsy bitsy little eye capsules.
Ooh and aah at the matching teeny pink tongues, and the adorable polka dotsy nose freckles.
I admit it, I am addicted to taking photographs of Frenchie Babies… and I’m not joining any twelve step programs, either. The rest of my secret stash is over here, on Flickr.
