Results from the Purina National Dog Show

Junior Puppy Judging, Sunday - Cindi and Leah

A quick post with the results and a few photos from this weekend’s Purina National Dog Show. I’ll upload video tomorrow. By the way, thanks to everyone who came out and made the breed information booth a success, and especially Richard and Ewa Rockford, and their lovely dogs (who drew a crowd twenty people deep!). It was great fun, although it was a bit disconcerting how many people asked me “Where’s Delilah??”.

Friday Zen – Hugo Does MTV

Hugo the French Bulldog is in the new Tim and the Space Cadets video

Hugo the French Bulldog is secretly the star of the new Tim and Space Cadets Video, "Superhero"

It seems that Hugo isn’t content to let his litter brother Po be the only one in the spotlight.

Hugo, it seems, has aspirations of a movie career, and he’s making his big break in a new music video. This note from his doting mom Renee gives us the back story -

It’s a music video for the children’s music group “Tim and the Space Cadets”.

Back in October, they were in desperate need of a french bulldog for the shoot. I said Hugo was available but is just a puppy (at the time he was just about 4 months old) so not sure how much I can get him to do but they agreed to give it a try (I think out of desperation of not finding an adult frenchie…hah).

But to everyone’s surprise, he was extremely obedient! He listened off leash with a crew of 15 people watching and was truly a shining star that day.

No one could believe how well he listened being he was just a baby. Pretty awesome.

I have to agree with Renee – it is pretty awesome, and so is Hugo! Well, so are all the kids – Bunny is so proud of them! :)

Video below – Hugo shows up around 1:00 minute in. Just a note to the producers of the video – the only thing that would make this video more awesome? More Hugo!

Being Po Dogovich

The ever dapper Po, he of the very photogenic Life of Po blog, made the papers. More accurately, he made the gossip column in the National Post.

http://www.nationalpost.com/news/canada/toronto/story.html?id=2626321

It seems Po (mis named Napoleon in the article – as if Dustin and Flo would ever have named him something so pedestrian) was getting snuggles from John Malkovich at his mom and dad’s restaurant.

The writer’s description of their snuggle fest?

it was all too weirdly wonderful to behold

You know your dog is more famous than you when he’s mentioned in the papers making out with celebrities at hot spot restaurants.

More photos over on Po’s blog, along with some descriptions of his laissez-faire reaction to his brush with celebrity.

Luke at the IKC Dog Show

Luke is showing in the French Bulldog six to nine month puppy class

Our friend Hope took some photos of the lovely Mr. Luke (aka Bullmarket NewHope at SpiritDragon, aka Tula’s baby boy from her last litter) showing at the International Kennel Club dog show in Chicago this past weekend.

Luke, who is showing from the six to nine month old puppy class, took Reserve Winners Dog, which is a pretty big achievement for his very first time in the show ring. Way to go, Luke, and way to go to Luke’s co owner, Andrea Morden Moore. Andrea has been training him diligently, and it looks like its paid off.

I’m not sure of the name of Luke’s handler, but she looks like she did a great job.

With any luck, Luke’s sister Leah, who makes her debut in Canada at the Purina National Dog show, won’t let her brother leave her in the dust. Practice those stacks, Kristina! :)

(ps: thanks to everyone who emailed or called to ask about the babies – all three now seem to be doing just fine!)
